15 Steps To Spring Cleaning Your Life
1. Declutter Your Emails
The first step is to go through the number of emails you get daily and get rid of those that you do not care for.
At one point I was getting over 55 emails A DAY and I was getting either overwhelmed or irritated every time I checked my emails.
Emails can definitely stress out people.
So go through the list and hit that unsubscribe button (not the spam because you technically signed up to receive emails)!
You will feel so much better in the long run.
2. Watch Your Social Media Indulgence
Do you spend too much time on Social Media mindlessly scrolling?
We all do this.
I know once I go on TikTok, I can literally spend a good 1 hour on it just scrolling and laughing.
But do you really need to spend that 1 hour on TikTok EVERY SINGLE DAY?
And how many friends do you seriously need on Facebook anyways?
And who still uses Twitter (I secretly still do – shh)!
If you are not using a social media platform, delete your profile and delete it off of your phone (this is to minimize temptation).
If you have way too many friends on Facebook delete those that you haven’t talked to in years, seriously.
Minimize your life as much as you can as things tend to pile on pretty fast.
3. Get Rid Of Toxic People In Your Life
I am all about positivity and if you want to hang around me, you better be positive.
I used to be a totally negative person for almost 15 years of my life but as soon as I had my daughter, I decided I needed new energy around me.
This meant, cutting out family or friends that were extremely toxic.
If you can’t do that, simply reduce the amount of time you spend with these people.
It’s a lot harder with co-workers, but try to stay positive as you always are and avoid spending too much time with that person that is always negative.
If for some reason your work environment is just toxic, it might be time for a change.

4. Declutter Your Mind
Do you frequently worry about things?
If you can not change something, stop worrying about it.
You have got to learn to live for today as tomorrow is never promised.
If your brain is always on overdrive, it’s time to do a little spring cleaning in there.
Getting rid of all that non-essential mental baggage is crucial to stay focused, motivated and productive.
Here are my best steps for spring cleaning your mind:
- Keep a journal – You can even grab this self-love journal to get started
- Avoid multitasking if at all possible
- Let go of things you can not change
- Breathe more often
- Take time to meditate

5. Spring Clean Your Diet
Your health is the one thing you have going for you.
So you definitely need to spring clean your health if you want to have a long happy life.
At an early age, I got diagnosed with High Blood Pressure even though I was perfectly healthy.
This has since become chronic and I have since practiced a Dash Diet to keep my pressure in control.
What we eat plays a huge role in the health of our bodies, so it’s important to occasionally flush out the bad and strengthen the good parts of our diets.
I am not at all saying go on a diet – eeww whole likes dieting (no one ever).
But simply cutting out things that are not good for you.
Here is what I cut off my diet:
- Salt intake (bad for blood pressure)
- A few processed foods (I know I should cut off completely but…) – potato chips, soft drinks and cookies
- Watch the carbs
At the end of the day, you simply want to change your lifestyle and make healthier choices so you can live longer.
There are plenty of ways to spring clean your life and I believe a healthier eating choice is a good first step in the right direction.
6. Learn to say NO
This week was a lot for me.
My brother suffers from serious mental health issues and takes a lot of drugs.
We have had multiple calls to go to the hospital.
My family heavily relies on me for different things.
I have a family of my own and I struggle with my own health issues.
Generally, I am a happy person, and I tend to think positively.
But sometimes things can get to me and saying NO and stepping out is the best way to help all involved.
You can’t do it all.
Anyone asking you for help might need to stay back once in a while for you to get back in your better place and there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
Don’t feel guilty or ashamed for doing this.
Say NO once in a while, your health will thank you.
7. Organize Your Finances
Finances are a source of stress for a lot of people.
Take the time to organize it the best you can and trust me, you will feel better about yourself in no time.

8. Use Positive Affirmations To Spring Clean Your Life
Did you know positive affirmations are a popular technique used in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to replace existing thoughts that may be untrue and hurtful?
When we say we want you to spring clean your life, we want you to throw out any negative energy that does not belong.
No matter what aspect of life you’re dealing with or who you are, positive affirmations can make you feel better about yourself and can manifest real change in your life.
Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts.
Here are a few affirmations I tend to refer to:

9. Manifest More of What You Want
Spring cleaning your life is a great way to change habits and make better choices for what you want in life.
If you want better things, go out and get them.
Putting it out in the universe or whatever you believe in is also a huge part of becoming a better you.
This is also known as the law of attraction and it can do wonders for your life, career and your wishes.
Life coaches and motivational speakers constantly teach the power of manifesting the destiny we desire. And I am here to tell you that it works.
So, what exactly does manifesting mean?
To manifest something means to visualize your desire and harness the power of your imagination to make it a reality.
It is really important to have a very clear intention for what you want to bring into your life.
I normally turn to Gabrielle Bernstein for all my manifestation needs.
Gabby makes meditating and manifesting so easy!
Start by grabbing her book, the Super Attractor.
You’ll learn how to co-create the life you want.
Super Attractor is a manifesto for confidently claiming your desires. In these pages, you’ll learn how to:
- Do less and attract more
- Relax and trust that what you desire is on the way
- Know that spiritual guidance is available to you at all times
- Feel a sense of awe each day as you witness miracles unfold
Accepting that you are a Super Attractor will change everything.
10. Are You Really Busy?
Take a look at your schedule, are you really that busy.
Do you need to schedule all those 20 meetings this week?
I would suggest you clear your schedule and stick to things that are important.
Things that can be resolved via email or a quick call, should be resolved that way.
Remember, you are allowed to say NO.
Now, don’t go saying no to everything, but if you are trying to fit everything and you are doing it all, you will only end up crushing.
And don’t forget to schedule some ME time so you can look after yourself more.
11. Create A Life Plan For Yourself
Whether you are spring cleaning your life or your home, it’s a good idea to reflect on where you want to be.
Are you on the right path or do you need to tweak and readjust your life plan?
Where exactly do you see yourself in the next 5, 10 or 15 years from now?
In a career that you love? A bigger house? Married with kids? Or maybe you are financially free?
You need to write down your goals and create a plan that works towards achieving that goal.
That’s why it is a good idea to declutter anything that no longer works and work with what will get you to your ultimate goal.
I have used this exact goal and money planner to not only plan my career goals but to me help with meeting financial goals and mapping out what needs to be done to move to the next level.
When you put pen to paper and actually work, you can achieve anything.
12. Change Up Your Daily Routine
Do you do the same thing every single day?
Eat the same foods, dress the same way and basically do everything accordingly all the time?
It might be time to switch up your daily routine.
Taking simple steps is the first step toward changing the bigger things.
Changing your routine will also give you that sense of a spring change.
New season, new things.
Little things you can do to change your daily routine:
- Try a different excise, instead of the norm, try swimming every other day or even Yoga (Wake Up Yoga with Adriene)
- Try a different coffee shop for a change, I tried a local coffee shop and I loved it (support small businesses)

15. Spring Clean Your Home
Last but not least, declutter your home so that you are constantly in an environment that brings you peace, calm and a sense of belonging.
The cleaner your home is, the more organized it is, the better you will feel.
Start by getting rid of clothes you no longer wear including shoes, makeup, and expired hair products.
Re-organize your closet to give it a fresh look.
Get rid of old bedding, get new ones and make up your bed with fresh linens and covers.
Clean out the fridge, vacuum the whole house, clean the windows and change up old curtains.
