Turning 30 for most is really an exciting time.

At first, I was completely scared.

I thought 30 was old, and that my best years were finally getting behind me.

But I was wrong.

Turning 30 was definitely a huge milestone for me.

I felt somehow accomplished and ready to start a new chapter.

I wanted to set new goals and work on those goals once I turned 30.

But what if you are not yet 30?

Well, I still think you should set goals.

What every woman should do before 30

In my opinion, before you turn, do everything you can to just have fun and live your best life ever.

I am not saying 30 sucks, but I think that it is the age where you should somehow have things figured out.

For example, have better control of your finances, purchase property, and if you like, maybe get married and have babies.

And if not, do just what you want.

I am not saying you should have it all figured out, but you should have some roots planted.

This is not going to be a list of crazy things to do before 30.

Instead, I wanted to stick to realistic things to achieve by 30 so you can have a decent life ahead.

By the time I was turning 30, I started seriously thinking about my finances, buying a house, starting a family and doing more grown-up things.

This was me.

Whereas another friend of mine wanted to have 2 kids before turning 30.

You don’t have to have it all figured, but just have a working plan in place.

30 Things To Do Before 30 Checklist

This list of 30 things to do before turning thirty might seem daunting but what better time than now? Pick one thing on this list and make it happen. You'll be surprised at how much more confident, accomplished, or happy you will feel by crossing off a few items from your bucket list early! My 30 Before 30 List. 30 things I want to do before I turn 30.

1. Travel alone as a woman

I am yet to fully do this to the extent that it deserves.

And if you do not manage to do it before you turn 30, that’s okay.

You can honestly do it at any stage.

But if you have it in you, I would suggest taking an opportunity to do a solo trip at least once.

If I had an opportunity, I would book my first solo trip to Jamaica.

The community of women travelling solo has grown over the years and it is now considered the norm.

Travelling alone as a woman before turning 30, will give you the opportunity to experience freedom, independence and the chance to do what you want when you want!

2. Plan a girlfriend getaway

Before turning 30, I decided to take a trip with one of my best friends and I can honestly say it was one of the best times of my life!!!

So, if you can plan a girlfriend getaway even once, I suggest you go for it.

Canada itself has some of the best places you can visit for your girlfriend’s getaway weekend or week!

Consider the Westcoast where you can go to Tofino, British Columbia where you can go surfing.

Tofino is known for its surf culture, island hopping, and luxury oceanside resorts tucked away in all corners of its temperate rainforest!

If you enjoy wine like my girls and I do, you can explore over 130 wineries and 17,000 acres of vineyards stretching from Niagara Peninsula to Prince Edward County to Lake Erie North Shore and beyond.

I definitely suggest you experience the one-of-a-kind tour with the Magic Winery Bus!

It is a hop-on, hop-off excursion that visits some of Ontario’s best, boutique wineries.

You will have a blast.

So for your 30 before 30 list ideas, be sure to add this and check it off before you turn 30.

3. Travel to Somewhere You’ve Never Been

As you can see, I love to travel.

So yes this post is full of travelling options one can do before you turn 30.

That’s because if you do choose to settle down or you do pursue a career, you can travel at your heart’s content.

I would say that now is the time to travel and have lots of fun.

So whether you choose to travel internationally or domestically in your own country, I think this is the time to travel alone, with your friends or with your significant other.

So go ahead and go on that new trip.

I personally went to Mauritius!

Here are my tips for traveling to Mauritius and why I think you will love it too. Planning the best tips to Africa Mauritius #Mauritius #Vacationtime

4. Attend a concert

Do you have a favourite celebrity?

Mine is Beyonce (obviously), but why not make it a mission to attend an epic concert before turning 30!

I have been to a few amazing concerts but usually the small ones.

But when my dream celebrity came to Canada a few years ago, I knew I had to attend.

I ended up going to see Rihanna with a very dear friend of mine (who sadly committed suicide the following year).

This is a memory I will always remember.

Planning to see a concert before you turn 30 is definitely a must and I urge you to add it to your 30 before 30 lists of things to do.

List of amazing celebrities I have seen:

  • Rihanna
  • Salt N Pepa
  • Sean Paul
  • TLC

So if you have a list of your own favourite must-see celebrities and artists, do some research, get those tickets and go have some much-needed fun.

I definitely do not mind seeing:

  • Ed Sheeran
  • Beyonce
  • The Weeknd
  • Drake
  • JLO

5. Practice Daily Meditation

Even meditating for a short period of time each day may benefit you in so many amazing ways.

As someone that was diagnosed with chronic high blood pressure at an early age, I practise daily meditation to help manage stress.

Even meditating for just 13 minutes daily enhances attention and memory.

Meditation is the habitual process of training your mind to focus and redirect your thoughts to less stressful ones.

And it really doesn’t have to be just stress.

For those that have difficulty concentrating, or have a mind that consistently wonders, meditation can truly help.

Many young people are now using meditation as a way to cope with life in general since it has many amazing health benefits.

Here is what I feel meditation helps with:

  • Reducing stress
  • Helps you sleep better
  • Helps with anxiety
  • Enhances self-awareness
  • You can focus more
  • It helps control pain (I suffer from chronic migraines)

Meditation is something everyone can do to improve their mental and emotional health.

And if you are in your 30s, you can try to incorporate that into your everyday lifestyle.

6. Practice good habits

Habits are awesome if you practice good habits.

It could be little things such as making sure you are always drinking your 8 glasses of water and not eating junk past 9 pm.

These seem trivial but can have a lasting impact on your life.

Before turning 30, you should take a look at your life and if you have bad habits, work on your mindset and start practicing healthy habits.

Make this a lifestyle change and take it one day at a time.

If you don’t sit up while working, try doing that every day.

It’s good for your posture.

If you drink pop every single day, cut it to once a week and as you work on this, stop drinking pop altogether.

7. Start manifesting the life you want

Life coaches and motivational speakers are constantly teaching us the true power of manifesting the destiny we desire. And I am here to tell you that it works.

So what does it mean to manifest and how can you use it to better your life?

Manifesting means visualizing your desire and harnessing the power of your imagination to make it a reality.

When I manifest, it is important to me that I am very clear and intentional about what I want to bring into my life.

If you are not sure about how to manifest to attract great things into your life, I would suggest looking into Gabrielle Bernstein for all your manifestation needs.

Gabby makes meditating and manifesting so easy!

She has an awesome book which you should grab, the Super Attractor

You’ll learn exactly how to co-create the life you want.

Super Attractor is a manifesto for confidently claiming your desires. In these pages, you’ll learn how to:

  • Do less and attract more

  • Feel a sense of awe each day as you witness miracles unfold

Accepting that you are a Super Attractor will change everything.

8. Start Investing

Are you looking for crazy things to do before 30, I would look into starting an investment portfolio?

Most people my age don’t even look into investment in the assumption that it is risky.

It took me a while to get into it, and now I wish I had started soon.

Investing even very small amounts can reap big rewards for you in the future.

The key to building wealth for your future is developing good money habits.

This means regularly putting money aside each month into savings or an investment account.

Right now, I am using Wealthy Simple for all my investment needs and I am loving it.

I believe I started with just 50 dollars and 6 months later, I have about $1500 dollars.

Honestly, that $20 you spend a week on coffee can easily be money you use to invest.

You can start investing and growing your money with Acorns or Wealthy Simple!

9. Develop A  Positive Money Mindset

Lucky for me, I have never really had a negative mind towards money.

Most people believe that money is the cause of all evil.

And then you have those that believe only in getting free money without working hard for it.

A positive money mindset fights against those beliefs and changes how you view money.

As I get a little older and start to appreciate things in my 30s, I found that the only way I could truly do that is if I had a positive mindset.

The thirties is the perfect time to get your money affairs in order.

If this was not a priority in your 20s, then I think this is the perfect time to start.

By changing your relationship with money now, you will empower yourself to use it to reach your goals down the line!

These 30 things to do before 30 checklists were created to help you with all aspects of your life moving forward.

Rather than being a slave to your money beliefs start working on your mindset now so that you can be financially free.

When your relationship with money changes, your reality will transform as well.

Start by grabbing our money mindset journal to help you deal with your mindset.

10. Become Financially Independent

You should work on becoming financially independent soon than later.

I actually support anyone that puts financial stability first.

Being financially independent means fully supporting yourself without going into debt or borrowing money to do so.

Becoming financially independent is a dream for most women.

As an independent financially stable woman, you can conquer the world and do anything you want.

There is no relying on anyone.

For me personally, being financially independent means not having to rely on my parents or anyone for money, and not having to worry so much about next month’s rent or how to my bills.

To help you get going in the right direction, here are a few steps that can help you become financially independent:

I would also recommend having a business or a career that is continuously growing in terms of money, title and happiness in your life.

11. Learn How To Budget

You will find plenty of budgeting tips for women online.

And thank goodness for all that information.

Learning how to budget will help you better manage your money which will help you become financially independent which is one of the many goals a thirty-something-year-old should have.

I definitely encourage all women to have a solid plan in place when it comes to finances especially if you are in your thirties.

Here are just a few of the many reasons I encourage women to learn more about budgeting and money:

  • So you can have money for retirement
  • You can invest to grow your money
  • If you have kids, save for the future
  • Emergencies do happen, be prepared
  • Not relying on others for money

A good budget that balances, will help you with everything on this list.

You can grab this FREE budget template right here.

Alternatively, you can also grab this FREE spending plan that you can use as well to better record your overall spending habits each month.

This should open your eyes to knowing exactly where your money is going each month.

12. Pay of debt

If you have debt, I recommend paying them off before you turn 30.

Or at least have a plan to pay off the debt.

Most young adults get debt usually from school loans and such.

If this is the case, make a plan to have it paid off by the time you turn 30 or at least have a solid plan to pay off the debt.

Having bad debt will affect your credit score which will not help your case if you try to purchase a house or get a loan in the future.

If you are serious about getting out of debt, I suggest you put a plan in place that you can easily follow to become debt-free quickly.

I get it.

Paying off debt is hard work and who really wants to do all that work.

If it weren’t so hard, then it would be no problem for people to easily pay off debt.

But I recommend you make a plan to be as debt-free as you possibly can.

Once you make the decision to pay off your debt, your life will change for the best.

Here are a few upsides to living debt-free:

  • No more stress
  • Not living pay check to pay check
  • In better control of your finances

In order to pay off your debt, you need to face them.

Truthfully write down everything you owe and create a plan to tackle them.

If you need help, then ask for help.

Stop adding to your debt, instead create a budget and stick to it.

It’s a great book.

13. Start an emergency fund

30 is a good time to start thinking about emergency funds and what you would do should an emergency occur.

Whether you are 30 or not, I am here to tell you that emergencies and unexpected expenses can strike at any time.

Usually when you least expect them to!

And that is why I highly recommend you start saving money in an emergency fund – this is honestly good financial sense.

What is the average emergency fund?

Basically, an emergency fund is a lump sum of money that you put aside in order to cover unexpected but necessary expenses that could come up at any time.

This includes but is not limited to:

  • Loss of income from work
  • Prolonged illness that prevents you from earning money
  • Car break down

An emergency fund will certainly provide you with the peace of mind that you deserve.

Most financial experts recommend that individuals or families have access to between three and six months of expenses kept in a cash-equivalent account.

The best way to start an emergency fund in your thirties is to start putting little money in a savings account considered to be your emergency fund.

And every time you get:

  • A bonus from work
  • A refund from Tax
  • Or any large amount of money

This should be put into growing your emergency fund.

Funds in your emergency account should be used for exactly that, an emergency.

14. Create an emergency grab and go binder

I already mentioned that emergencies can strike at any time or moment.

And this is why you should always be prepared.

As part of your 30 things to do before turning 30, I recommend working on an emergency binder.

It can be a singular binder or a family binder.

An in case of an emergency binder or a grab-and-go binder is a binder geared towards managing your family in the case of an emergency.

The binder should be made in such a way that it organizes your family’s most important information – from finances to traditions to bedtime stories – so you’re prepared, no matter what happens.

Whether it’s paying the bills, filing insurance claims, dropping your kids off at sports, setting up play dates, or managing your investments, there are so many things we do in life that where we’re the only ones in the know.

If something had to happen to you, would people know how to handle your affairs?

Don’t let your family suffer more.

Go ahead and create this emergency binder using these tools.

15. Create generational wealth

I really wanted to share a solid to-do list before 30 so you can be inspired to do more with your life.

This list is absolutely perfect for those awesome 30-year-olds that feel like they have not accomplished much in life.

If you have made it this far in life, you have definitely done a lot for yourself.

So what exactly is generational wealth?

Generational wealth is basically wealth that is passed down from one generation to the next. It is also known as family wealth or legacy wealth!

This wealth can basically be accomplished in many forms such as real estate assets, stock market investments, investing in property or financial education to carry forward into the future.

When you decide to leave something behind for your children or grandchildren, then you are contributing to the growth of generational wealth in your family.

Here is how to build generational wealth:

  • Invest in stocks
  • Purchase property
  • Build a business you can pass on
  • Consider getting life insurance
  • Invest in your kid’s education (I started an RESP for my daughter)

From here, you will need to create an estate to help transition your affairs.

A will is also essential.

Don’t forget to name beneficiaries for your accounts.

16. Purchase a property

You can either purchase your first home or purchase an investment property.

Buying a house requires a lot of time and effort, but it is well worth it in the end.

This is especially true if you wish on creating generational wealth.

I know my mother purchased a house that she could leave for my brothers and me.

And my husband and I are wishing to purchase a home to pass on to my daughter as well.

It’s definitely a good idea to purchase the house early on in life as you will have more opportunities to start paying it off faster.

Buying a home involves finding the property, securing financing, making an offer, getting a home inspection, and closing on the purchase.

You can definitely get the help of a financial advisor or a bank broker to help you with purchasing your first home.

If I had to do it all over again, I would first purchase a condo, keep it for 5 years or so, and make updates to it.

Then I would sell it for a little profit and purchase a home when I am ready to have a family.

17. Consider A Career Change At 30

Switching careers at 30 is not necessarily a bad thing especially if you are unhappy or your current career is not really benefiting you financially.

If you are not happy with your current job or career, then it’s time to make a change.

A career change at 30 is perfect as you can easily start over.

Personally, I believe that 30 is the best time to make a career change, but there is nothing stopping you from changing your career later either.

After you turn 30 or even leading up to this stage, you can make changes depending on your circumstance, or what you feel will be best for you.

Only you know what you want!

In order to have a successful career change at 30, it’s important that you know exactly where your interests lie and what kind of work will make you happy.

It may be something very different from the line of work in which you’re currently employed—or not!

Find out what things make you happy?

Then decide what motivates or energizes you.

And then you would want to how those factors compare with other people who enjoy doing similar work as yours.

Choosing a profession based on these three questions can help narrow down which direction you should take.

Obviously, good pay is also a priority.

18. Learn Photography

Is there a world without photography?

I think not!

Not only is this art form used to capture memories and moments in time that would otherwise have been forgotten, but it can also help you find your own creative voice.

I have always wanted to learn photography and I feel like this is such a cool skill to have.

Photography is definitely a great hobby to have and one that can easily be monetized if you want.

However, taking good photos takes more than just pointing and shooting; knowing how to take them requires skillful technique which includes proper equipment care as well as understanding exposure settings.

I suggest taking lessons even from YouTube, to learn more about taking great photos.

19. Become Rich by 30

I read an interesting article the other day about how to get rich with no money or education!

I personally went to school and even graduated 3 times from college.

Am I filth rich? No!

That’s because I wasted so much time in my early twenties doing nothing but spending money.

If I could do it all over again, I would make plans to become rich by 30.

I recently started reading an epic book I found on Amazon!

It’s called Rich As F*ck!

I have already talked about creating generational wealth and manifesting the life you want.

Well, this book is full of amazing ways to help you become rich even at a young age.

Amanda Frances is a world-renowned thought leader on financial empowerment for women.

In the world of personal development, she is widely known as the “Money Queen.”

And if you want to make $1 Million, then read the book!

She literally spelled it out for you on how to do it!

Amanda Frances Rich as fuck! The guide that will make you rich sooner than you think.

20. Publish a Physical Book or A Digital Book

I have never published a physical book although I am looking at publishing one in the future that I can dedicate to my daughter.

People are making thousands of dollars each month creating and selling physical and digital books.

Personally, I am really into digital books and guides (it’s good for the environment).

Learning how to write and publish an eBook can be a pretty painful process without the right strategy and training (especially as a first-time author).

This could mean that it will take you forever to get good results.

I recommend looking into the eBook Bestseller BootcampEbook Bestseller Bootcamp - self-publishing eBooks courseIt is an online video course designed to help bloggers, online creatives and business owners write, launch and sell their first (or next) bestselling eBook in no time.

The course has over 10 hours of video content and is made up of 3 main modules and split into 30 bite-sized lessons that break down the frameworks you need to work through as you create and publish an unforgettable and bestselling eBook online.

Honestly, if you do publish a book, share it with me.

It’s a fantastic way to quickly grow your income.

21. Start A Blog

Not only has blogging giving me the opportunity to make extra money, but I have met a lot of amazing other entrepreneurs online.

22. Start An Online Business Before 30

30 is the best time to start an online business.

Whether you have a physical workplace you go to 9-5 or you are trying to find yourself, I always encourage people to start an online business.

An online will allow you to make a little extra money, you won’t rely on a job in case something like the pandemic comes around again or if you just don’t feel like going to work.

An online business will definitely make your life more flexible.

It will allow you to work your own hours and live anywhere in the world.

The internet knows no bounds – no matter where you live on this planet, there is a way for you to live the good life by working from home and spending your time where you see fit.

It has never been easier to start an online business than it is now.

With the rise of companies like Uber, Airbnb, and TaskRabbit that allow anyone with a car or spare bedroom to easily make more money than working for one company, you can find yourself living in the lap of luxury without even leaving your home.

After all, one of the major benefits of starting an online business is that you can do it from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

The question, then, becomes which online business should I start?

A few business ideas:

23. Spring Clean Your Life

Spring cleaning your home can be a great way to refresh your living space and get rid of useless clutter.

Spring cleaning is also a good time for re-evaluating all the things that we’ve been holding onto in our lives, whether it’s clothes or bad relationships.

You shouldn’t only spring clean your house but your life in general as well.

There are so many parts of your life that could see the benefits of a little uplift.

When we say spring clean your life, we are not just talking about detoxing the habits, practices, and clutter that don’t make you feel like your best self!

Even if all those things are great.

When I say spring clean your life, we want you to take the time to replenish it with whatever makes you happy, healthy, and whole.

30 is a great time to clear out the messy stuff in your life – in your relationships, technology, health, self-care and financials.

Doing a deep clean in these areas can you give you the feeling of a fresh start.

24. Eat More Healthy Foods

Healthy eating has many health benefits, such as reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, obesity, and type 2 diabetes

You are young and you might not have any of these issues.

I know many young women, including myself that have suffered from PCOS, hormone imbalance and other small weird things.

They do end up having a huge impact later on in life.

Naturally, in your 20s you are likely not concerned about all these things as they may seem trivia.

But I would definitely suggest that you eat more healthily in the years leading up to you turning 30.

Eating healthy foods can also boost a person’s mood and provide them with more energy.

You can even try the 21 days to detox your body once in a while to give your body the boost it might need.

25. Start a workout routine

If you are looking for a practical 30 before 30 list of things to do, I suggest looking into setting up a workout routine.

Trust me, after 30, things can get tough.

It’s best to start a routine before the age of 30 so you can keep it going easily after the fact.

Exercise will definitely make you feel good, and it will help you lose weight and become leaner!

I suffer from high blood pressure which I was recently diagnosed with, so working out definitely helps.

I love hitting up the treadmill and yoga absolutely helps too.

If you want to lose weight and become physically fit and healthy, you will need a healthy workout routine.

Check out this at home workout routine for women. Daily workout plan Want to lose weight fast? with this daily workout plan for beginners, you will burn fat like crazy. 26. Learn to appreciate your body at 30

I have a daughter, so naturally, my body changed.

It took a while but I have learned to appreciate my new body with all its changes.

For example, my feet grew during and after pregnancy.

Instead of my usual size 8, I am now an 8 and a half.

As women, we are hard on ourselves and judge our bodies so harshly.

And now that you are almost 30, it’s time to really learn how to appreciate your bodies.

Let go, learn to enjoy the body you have right now and treat it right.

Work out daily, eat healthy foods and love yourself.

When in doubt, check out these Journal Prompts For Self Love to help you to love yourself in no time.

27. Participate in a “glow up” challenge

What Is the Glow Up Challenge?

The Glow Up challenge is what I like to call a month that you dedicate to yourself, focus on improving your wellness, health, looks, and mental strength in order to look and feel your absolute best.

You can do it on a year-to-year basis or even before you turn 30.

28. Go On A Meditation Retreat

This is a long dream of mine.

Plan a day-long meditation retreat, either solo or with a small group of friends.

It can even be a one-day retreat or a couple of days, to be honest.

Whether you want to travel to a far-off, exotic destination or find something closer to home, meditation retreats will allow you to quiet your mind, open your heart and explore the realm of your inner world.

More specifically, I want to go on a spiritual retreat.

Spiritual travel means different things to different people.

For some individuals, it means visiting and exploring religious and holy places.

For others, spiritual destinations are places of peace where the noise of the world falls away.

I definitely want to do the spiritual discovery journey.

A few destination retreat locations for this are:

  • Jerusalem, Israel

  • Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka

  • The Dead Sea, Israel

For those that want to stay closer to home – I would suggest Harmony Dawn!

30 is not the end of the world and your life doesn’t end there.

Depending on things this list of 30 things to do before 30 is a great way to check or cross off things that you really want to do.

29. Practice Self-Care

Know your worth!

Self-care is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself as it produces positive feelings and boosts your confidence and self-esteem.

Also, self-care is necessary to remind yourself and others that you and your needs are important too.

One of the best things that we can do for our minds and bodies is to take a break and remember that we are worth love.

For some people, adding self-care into a daily routine can seem inconvenient, or even intimidating.

I highly suggest you take either one day out of the week or the month to dedicate solely to you!

You deserve and you need to be rewarded.

For me, I tend to practice self-care Sundays.

The idea behind self-care Sunday is simple: take one day of the week and dedicate it to your self-care in any and all ways.

Sunday is often the perfect day to do this as you have more time for yourself.

Pick a day or time that works for you and go for it fully!

30. Go Bungee Jumping Or Skydiving Before 30

Here is another amazing thing you can do before 30.

I actually went bungee jumping on my 27th birthday.

That is because I turned 27 on the 27th and I thought that was pretty cool.

So my husband who was my boyfriend at the time took me bungee jumping.

I am scared of heights so this was the most terrifying thing yet the most amazing experience of my life.

Would I do it again?

NO!

And there you have it!

We hope you enjoyed this realistic 30 before 30 list of things to do before 30!

You’ve made it to 30!

We’ve all heard the saying, “30 is the new 20.”

And while it’s true that there are some aspects of our lives where we can still be productive at this age, other areas may require more careful planning if you want them to turn out well.

It might seem like an arbitrary number–but when your thirtieth birthday rolls around and you’re looking back on what you achieved in those years, how will you feel?

Which experience or accomplishment was important enough for you?

Here is to another 30 years!

Cheers.
